Explain how perspectives influence human interactions, affecting their understanding of situations, events, issues, or phenomena. Over this summer I went to Bejing, China on a full paid scholarship program called APSA. I spent four weeks in China with only two years of Chinese under my belt. Trying to communicate with people outside of the program like with random people on the street to ask for directions was pretty difficult ,so I had to figure out how to talk to them to get our message about. I had to use sign language to get around and get what I needed. But in general the Chinese language is an amazing and interesting language to learn but it is difficult. It made me notice that no matter where I am in the world I am able to communicate with anyone . And also learning not only about their language but their cultures and food! About how they treat their elders and how they are so passive on every subject. For LEAD9-10PERS1, PERS2, and PERS4, I graded myself advanced and for PERS3 proficient. I graded myself like this because I really think that I give insight on how I learned about something new and gained appreciation of something new that helps me learn something new. |
Chinese Earthquake Detector
I chose my Chinese project for this category because I feel like the Chinese Earthquake Detector helps explain the Chinese culture. It shows that the Chinese were inventive and shows that the Chinese were really involved with the world. And while doing this project I found out that not everyone is truthful with in the world that gave me a whole new perspective on how the world really works. While no one really knows how the Chinese Earthquake Detector really made its way to Europe, they do know that the Italians made a replica of it and tried to call it theirs. The Chinese have such a rich culture that people can learn so much about.
